Royal International Air Show
Going on Friday here too. I think they have changed the format this year though as I don't think that we will be parking directly next to the PCGB caravan. Also, it seems we can leave at any point during the day whereas last year we had to wait until the end of the show so that we could be escorted off the airfield.

Email arrived this afternoon - 13 sheets of info. As it's via PCGB we get a dedicated (exhibitors) route in and out and pick up the passes inside. It's a brilliant deal: Sunday entrance for Fridays price. That's £16 per ticket saving so a grand total of £48! So well over half the membership fee!

I would be interested to know how you get on. I have never been to RIAT before but have been to Cosford a couple of times. The traffic there was dire getting in and out, and I have heard rumours of similar problems with Fairford although Friday should be OK - I hope. A better journey in and out + £16/ticket off is definitely worth the membership fee. And you probably get free drinks as well.Dandock wrote: ↑Mon Jul 10, 2017 5:31 pmEmail arrived this afternoon - 13 sheets of info. I'd always been deterred for that very, justifiable reason even though we're only about 30 minutes away (normally). PCGBs deal is that we can enter and exit via the Exhibitors fast-track route and at any time. As big a benefit as the tickets! And once through security to the PCGB parking area.Ian.g wrote: ↑Mon Jul 10, 2017 5:48 pmI would be interested to know how you get on. Last year was great. Had to arrive much earlier than the time stipulated for this year. Once cleared through security we were escorted to park next to the PCGB trailer as can be seen from the pic below............ the PCGB van was situated on the grass just behind the static display line. Had a very chilled day and waited until we were given the all clear and an escort to leave the show ground; after the site had closed to the public. Somewhat different this year as the instructions indicate that we can leave at any point during the day and it seems we won't be parked next to the caravan...... ah well..... all will be revealed on Friday!

I have just got back and had a great time. Lots of amazing flying and planes. For me the stars were the Red Arrows (much better than the American Thunderbirds team although they were also good) and the F22 Raptor - which was utterly amazing. I will post some pictures when I have processed them.
Thanks Ian. Looking forward to it. I've been hearing the soundtrack on and off for a couple of days as they head in over Cheltenham.
