Well to be honest I hadn't looked that closely at the cockpit of the planes, but yes, he does indeed appear to be looking at the camera. I am not sure that I can tell if he is winking though! Well spotted.

Yes, not snapped with an iPhone! Canon Eos 5DIII and 100-400L zoom lens (the old one rather than the mark II). But even that looked a bit lame compared to the camera kit that some people turned up with. I doubt their photos were much better though.

Perhaps they also realise that they should have been exhiting that rather than the Targa.
