Theoretically. It was a mock 'typical' homecoming with two engines on fire.Wing Commander wrote: ↑Tue Jul 18, 2017 5:55 pm Great pics, Mike!
Is the plane on fire in that second photo?!

Yes. I actually realised that albeit a bit late. I normally have it -2 or so as I think the metering tends to overexpose a wee bit and I bracket. However because of the subject matter I set it to 'burst'. And I must get a spare battery!Ian.g wrote: ↑Tue Jul 18, 2017 7:12 pm So you did take some pictures! I would have liked to have seen the B2 but it didn't fly on Saturday. Nice picture. Could I (tactfully) suggest +1 stops of exposure compensation when taking plane photos as the sky often messes up the exposure otherwise? Even with the grey cloud. Mine have got +1-2 stops with the brighter sky. Although the Spitfires/Hurricane photo actually looks quite effective with the menacing grey cloud background. I hope you had a good day.
And a good time? Yes thanks, albeit the weather restricted the displays a bit. We got an extra small bite of the Red Arrows - who were massively better and more imaginative than the Thunderbirds - as they set off at about midday for Silverstone.

I met a bloke many, many years ago who'd been in the British rifle shooting team at the world championships. He chuckled at his memory of the American team saying that they could do lots of fancy stuff - through the legs, over the shoulder etc. - but when it came to actually hitting things for real they fell well short. How true I don't know.
