I currently have approx 2800 miles on my SD and have just returned from a 250 mile round trip to the Welsh coast which involved a lot A roads through Snowdonia (highly recommend), my SD returned 37mpg and at times i wasn't hanging about as i wanted to test the Macan on those scenic country roads

I've definitely found fuel consumption with the roof box in much worse due to the poorer aerodynamics. Get about 32 on a run versus 37-38 usually when doing a motorway trip.

Most boxes get a lower drag if you mount it in the other direction (backwards). Had a conversation with some of the Aerodynamics people at SAAB and they claimed that a PACKLINE or THULE box achieved a lower CD backwards. Dare to try it?

OK, so the economy improves a bit.

What about other characteristics such as smoothness, more power.........
