Engine getting even better.
With Kitty just turned 18 months it's very pleasing to feel how much the engine has loosened up and how the economy has markedly improved since we passed the 10K mark. Anyone else noticed this?

I'll soon be adding 3000 miles, from 5 to 8000 on my annual euro tour. A lot of cruising, so I'll look for an increase in mpg.

Likewise. Just back from a long trip in Europe in the GTS and got 29.1 mpg for a 3.5 hour run with average speed of 60 mph. More than happy with that!!Kasfranks99 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 10, 2017 5:15 pm I have not done as many miles but i certainly noticed after around 1500 miles the MPG improved in our GTS.

This was a typical leg of my Euro trip in June. Bear in mind this leg was up and over the Pyrenees with the final hour on country roads.
And on a recent 165 mile run back from Clitheroe half of which in stinking weather we averaged 60 @ about 29mpg and despite the awful ongoing M6, Spaghetti and M5 roadworks. More than pleased.

My S has done 7000 miles now and is improving, overall it's done about 23mpg since new and my wife recently did a return trip to the Scottish Borders and managed just over 30 mpg on mainly dual carriageway (theA1). Initially I was struggling to get 20mpg. My previous Merc improved up to about 10,000 miles then no more after that.

If it makes you feel better, I averaged 25.7 mpg out of my SD on the last tank! Too much town driving I think!

Wonder where the threshold is I have experienced a slight decrease. Well I finally get down on the numbers in the sales brochure. Have not made the on the pump calculation yet but it is promising. Has anyone experienced any difference on the car computer calculations of fuel consumption and the actual one?
All manufacturers do this for some reason. People I know in the car industry says that the engines today are so precise and well built that there is no need for a breaking in period. That means the extra fuel for the first 5000-7000 km.
