Asking on here as the thread is locked in the other section.

I want to get wheel and tyre insurance for our Macan GTS when it arrives but looking at ALA they only cover up to 20" tyres and the wheels cannot be diamond cut. Our car will have the 21" Sport Classic High Gloss Black wheels which have an alloy edge. Do these class as diamond cut??

Can anyone recommend a company that will do tyre and wheel insurance for these wheels/tyres as my OPC don't seem interested in offering this service

Martin it is a shame your OPC has not offered. Some OPC have done some greats deals on this (Some awful pricing)
Not sure if your OPC does not offer it or just not interested in selling it?

The problem is some insurance companies do not cover 21" and some dont cover Diamond / Laser Cut (Not sure if yours are but others may be able to assist).
You can try https://shortfall.co.uk who do cover both but i have no experience with them. They are recommended by https://totallossgap.co.uk if your wheels are bigger than 20".
These policy's do have to be taken out generally within 30 days or car purchase.
Looks like Alloy cover around £200 for 3 years and tyre cover around £300 for 3 years. Thats not bad especially if yours are Diamond cut.

Alternative is to self insure and go back to OPC for any repairs if they offer this? I see you have surround view cameras so should help ;)

Also repairing a Diamond Cut alloy may result in not having the car for a few days (Diamond cuts take much longer) so wonder if taking back to OPC for a repair they would give you a loan car? Insurance company will not from what i have read.

Hope the above helps.

I've spoken to MB & G Insurance in Newcastle who I have had policies from before through my BMW Dealer and they have offered me a great deal on the tyre insurance.

21" Tyre Insurance up to £300 a tyre with no excess @ £6.99 per month (no minimum term just 30 days notice to cancel) and up to 5 claims a year :o

The 21" Sport classic wheels are classed as Diamond Cut and therefore they cannot offer me insurance on these (If they weren't diamond cut it would have been £50 a year)!

Shortfall are quoting £200.00 for 3 years cover on the wheels with £150 repair coverage per claim and up to 3 per year. Hopefully the wife will be ultra careful

Hi Martin, check that this is not for an onsite smart repair where they fill and paint and cannot guarantee a match as opposed to a proper diamond cut repair as offered by most OPC`s where the wheel is sent away and turned on a special lathe type machine.

I've just read the policy and it says a cosmetic repair at your home or work so that is no good then :(

Back to the search for a policy that covers diamond cut wheels and repairs them properly if the need arises :?:

Not all OPC's use the same policy. I had a puncture in our GTS and had insurance provided by Jardine Motor Company (Lancaster) called Care Care Plan. When the Macan was taken to Sheffield (JCT600) it turned out they used a different provider called Premia Solutions.

We received first class service from Sheffield. But one thing that came to light was that Care Care Plan paid the garage direct whereas Sheffield said with their policy the customer pays and has to claim the amount paid back. Both policies have a maximum figure of £300 + VAT per tyre.

Our policy covers 5 Tyres over 3 years and 6 repairs a year for 3 years. If it is a repair that requires the wheel to be put on a lathe then they pay up to £110 inc VAT per wheel. If the wheel can not be repaired then they pay (only) £150 towards a new wheel.

To book a repair you use an app which which you upload photos of the the damage and arrange a repair, for a new tyre just a phone call although the garage or tyre fitter is required to upload a photo of the tyre.

We had a repair on our black GTS wheels carried out on our drive. It was only a small cosmetic repair which took an hour and was first class.

So all in all I would recommend Care Care Plan.
