Well WingCo.. you were curious to know how the spec on the 911 would turn out... lockdown was announced two days ago and was informed that the build completion date would be 2nd March.. However.. due to the forecast of a build slot for a base carrera in Q1 not materialising.. I was offered the only other option... allocation in Q1 for a Carrera S.. which I've decided to take.. it's more than I had budgeted for.. but on reflection, I've had a better than expected year at work, so what the hell.... Spec is as follows: http://www.porsche-code.com/PJMGA389Wing Commander wrote: βWed Aug 30, 2017 10:17 pm It will be an awesome car regardless of wheel and tailpipe choice!
I know what you mean about the 19" wheels. I'm a sucker for the look of a larger wheel, but I do appreciate that my Panamera would be even more comfortable on 19" or 20" wheels.
I will watch your spec with interest as you approach lock down, Cowan!
Having come from a 2007 X5 I am not finding the Macan particularly small or lightweight. Having said that I haven't hitched up the horse trailer yet. The X5 3.0d was an excellent towing vehicle.Scott Cowan wrote: βTue Aug 29, 2017 9:33 pmThe X5 is our family car and workhorse which the Macan could never be, it's just too small for our needs. I can't really compare them.

Don't get me wrong, our 64 plate X5 40d is a brilliant car, but the Macan and indeed the Cayenne S diesel I had feel more sorted and confidence inspiring than the X5 nearer the limit. However, I agree completely, the X5 is excellent at towing. I have a twin axle 6 berth caravan and a 2ton "business in a box" Ifor Williams trailer and you barely notice they're attached.Tom 2000 wrote: βWed Dec 06, 2017 8:48 pmHaving come from a 2007 X5 I am not finding the Macan particularly small or lightweight. In the dry the X5 was superb but in greasy conditions would drift gracefully.Scott Cowan wrote: βWed Dec 06, 2017 9:16 pmDon't get me wrong, our 64 plate X5 40d is a brilliant car, but the Macan and indeed the Cayenne S diesel I had feel more sorted and confidence inspiring than the X5 nearer the limit. You're a braver man than me Those 315 width rear tyres are a handful in very wet conditions. Aquaplane very easily.Tom 2000 wrote: βWed Dec 06, 2017 9:20 pmIn the dry the X5 was superb but in greasy conditions would drift gracefully.Scott Cowan wrote: βWed Dec 06, 2017 9:16 pmDon't get me wrong, our 64 plate X5 40d is a brilliant car, but the Macan and indeed the Cayenne S diesel I had feel more sorted and confidence inspiring than the X5 nearer the limit. Not brave at all. I am talking about very low speeds. Good in the dry though.Scott Cowan wrote: βWed Dec 06, 2017 9:37 pmYou're a braver man than me Those 315 width rear tyres are a handful in very wet conditions.
