My Macan is booked in to Autoglass on Friday morning for a new windscreen. Getting replaced through Admiral, they seemed very well informed when I phoned, said that it had to be done in their depot because calibration was required. I was told it will take up to 2 hours and will then need to sit for half an hour to cure.
I'll let you know how it is once it's done.

I've had two windsreens in he last six months. That's more than I've had in the last 20 years.

Quite a few people on here reporting cracked windscreens.

Is the Macan more than averagely susceptible to broken screens?

Has your local authority been doing a lot of 'top dressing' in the past six months? I think Autoglass sponsor them to do it so they get lots of business in the following few weeks!

If I had anything to do with it top dressing would be banned!

I hope you have insisted that you get an OEM screen. It might delay things by a day or two because Autoglass don't stock them.

Otherwise sounds pretty much exactly how it played out for me earlier this week. Except the 30 mins curing time runs concurrent with the camera recalibration. Mine was done 2 hours on the dot.

I'm hoping it's OEM, they didn't have any in stock and had to be ordered. They phoned as soon as it was in and the fitting depot also phoned to confirm my booking. All very professional so far.

Last windscreen I needed was over 30 years ago on my dad's mk2 escort. When the stone chip hit the Macan's windscreen I wasn't worried because it hardly made any noise and I didn't think that it would have done any damage, a few minutes later a large crack started proceeding over the screen. I've had far louder hits to the screen in other cars and they've never cracked, so yes the Macan could be a bit more susceptible to windscreen damage.

Similar experience.

My first Macan windscreen replacement was caused by a stone hitting the screen while driving along a motorway. Stone was big enough for me to see it coming, the speed was quite high and the damage was considerable. Don't think any screen would have escaped undamaged.

However, second screen, didn't notice any impact and only became aware of the damage when a crack began spreading from what I could just about detect as a point of impact by running a finger along the crack.

Mine was quite a smack and cause star shaped cracking about the size of a 10p piece. So it was immediately a write off. Within 30 mins a 12" crack had developed. I'm sure my BMWs have had similar whacks and just chipped but who knows for sure.

Mine was hit with an almighty crack doing about 70 on the motorway. I thought I had got away with it because it was the other side of the rear view mirror. Spotted it the next day. It did crack and then grew to about 9 inches in the end. It was such a loud crack I was expecting some damage.

New windscreen fitted this morning, took about 3 hours. Fitter said it was the 4th Macan he'd done this week !! Only difference that I can see is that the screen that was on the car was made by Saint Gobain and the new one is made by Pilkington. No wind rustle or unwanted noises. Very happy with Autoglass.
