OK so I am having a week. Bolt through a brand new track tyre on the M3 half way through a track day on Tuesday and today something hit the windscreen of the nearly new Macan and it now has a 12" crack in it.

The car is insured with Admiral and I will have to phone them tomorrow. I'd much prefer the car to be fixed at the OPC. It has surround view.

Does anyone have any experience or advice to share?

No specifics for Admiral. You can insist on having it done by your OPC. Your excess will be higher but they can't refuse.

Claimed on Admiral last year (self inflicted parking error) bit of a struggle initially with "approved " repairer but got there in the end; (choosing my own repairer) - screen will need calibrating so worth a bit of grief to get OPC to repair..."your insurance/your choice of repairer"...

Had two windscreens replaced by Autoglass via Admiral in the last two years. My Cayenne was six weeks old and the 718 two months old. The windscreens, both with road sign reading cameras attached, were fitted at my house with no problems at all. Just insist the replacement is an original Porsche part.

That's good to hear I've had two poor experiences in the past so I'd rather trust the OPC

I had a new screen fitted to the 718 by Autoglass after about a month of ownership - chip right in the driver's line of sight. They didn't have a screen so they bought a Porsche one - I had to wait a few days (mind you, the model was fairly new at the time). The repair man said it was one of the easiest screens to replace. No cameras, of course. Done outside my house and a really neat job.

Had my windscreen replaced by Autoglass a couple of weeks ago. Original Porsche part and calibrated by them with no fuss whatsoever. Really good, professional job
