The best I've achieved in the real world (brim to brim) was 26.7 mpg which was a trip to Bruges, cruise on at 78mph except in the variable speed limit areas where I was a good boy and in Europe where I stuck to the limits 80mph in France and about 75 in Belgium. ACC does make it easier to bimble along at or around the speed limit.
PS behaving the same way in the 330d would achieve 50mpg plus
30 mpg turbo!

Impressive! I was quite pleased with the stats from the bank holiday weekend.

I did an 850 mile trip into holland and Belgium last week, and averaged a real 26.9mpg over the entire trip out of my turbo. Averaged 69mph over the whole trip too. Mostly running 5kph over the limit, so 85 in France, 80 elsewhere, but there is 100 miles of urban running in the trip.
The trip was reading 28.1 when I got home.
I did the same trip 5 months ago with 3k miles on the clock and got 23mpg. Car now has 11k on the clock, so it's improved considerably with miles.

That's quite a remarkable improvement.wilko wrote: ↑Wed Sep 13, 2017 6:59 am I did an 850 mile trip into holland and Belgium last week, and averaged a real 26.9mpg over the entire trip out of my turbo. I'm sure some of it is that I've learnt to coast (manually) at every opportunity, so when someone slower pulls out in front of me, knock the cruise off with left hand, pull right hand paddle with right hand.
I did the same with the wife's golf r on a trip to Scotland recently, and added 3-4mpg to my normal average.
There has definitely been an improvement with miles in that I now get 17-18mpg around town vs about 14mpg when new, and I'm driving it harder.

Love coasting mode, I try to use it as much as possible. Although I did a 2 hour journey in France recently using coast as much as possible then did exactly the same route on the way home using ACC as much as possible, 37.1 mpg in both directions. Impressive figures above. I managed no such thing earlier in the week. Stuck to the speed limits pretty much everywhere. In fact I could even get close to the 90kmh advertised along most of the route. I did the Hahntennjoch south to north and back, Timmelsjoch, Penser Pass, Mendel Pass, Gampen pass and Stelvio. Great day driving but the fuel economy left to be desired

^ That's the first time I've seen fuel consumption expressed as km/l - normally it's litres/100km over here on the continent. At first I thought your display was 7.2 litres/100km, which is SD territory! Even though I have my speedo set to km/h, I leave the consumption expressed as mpg as I can't get used to thinking any other way!
