Don't forget that many private customers are now leasing as that market has taken off. These will be registered as fleet sales so a drop in that total could equate to a drop in new cars for private customers.

"Unintended consequence" is that rather than buying low emission vehicles (hybrids or all-electric) people are selling their diesels and buying big-engined petrol SUVs. :shock:

Anyone on here own a big-engined petrol SUV? :lol:

If Porsche still offer a diesel engine in the facelift Macan we will have clearer idea of their view of the future for diesel engines. If the engine offers more torque, power and improved mpg, I'm sure it will continue to sell well. Then again, it will of course be a VW group engine so perhaps important for VW to offer diesel across their whole range, especially in their SUVs.
