Am I missing something?

Looking at the data I see two clear trends in the prices shown: -

1 diesels has either fallen or remained static

2 petrol models have risen

Now to me the lower fuel costs of diesel will more or less be offset by the higher depreciation of the oil burners.

So it boils down to you make your choice and pays your money.

Always remember there are lies, damn lies and statistics.

It is a Telegraph article hence I for one have no faith in it.

Of course manufacturers are going to continue to promote the oil burners, so many of their cars are designed and built around them.

Smoking is bad for you and everyone around you and cigarette prices are always rising.... Does that help or hinder the argument?

Perhaps showrooms should keep diesels behind locked doors like cigarette merchandising 😂
