Minimal boot size increase. And a fifth seat of limited use, so they call it a 4+1 rather than a full five seater.
I think it's more about styling and image, than any marked difference in practicality. Am sure it'll sell pretty well though.

I agree. When I looked at two parked next to each other, I struggled to see much difference which was surprising.

They really are only four seaters and quite a big car for such a small interior (where have I heard that before?). I was looking around the hybrid model in Belfast last night and the SE said that another model on show (of four, no other cars in the showroom) had the five seat option so over I went for a look.
I'll tell you, if I suggested to Mrs H or any of her female friends that they were to sit in the middle seat, I'd prepare for a good battering. In order to 'straddle' the centre console they'd have to put their legs in a position almost similar to that when undergoing a 'female inspection'. There's no way that Porsche can describe that as a five seater!

What human would that be then? Children need to be in car seats until circa 12 yrs old, so not enough space for them then. So who?Wing Commander wrote: ↑Fri Oct 20, 2017 7:44 pm ...which is why Porsche call it a 4+1 configuration!
At least with the 911, with its 2+2 configuration, it's possible to get two car seats in those rear seats. Or two (small) adults on a short trip.

I agree with you, SAC1. If ordering a Sport Turismo, I'd be tempted to opt for the optional 4 seat configuration ( the same seating layout as my Panamera saloon ).

Being Porsche, presumably an additional cost option to have half a seat removed?
(Like the Countach, £6K for « delete rear wing » from memory)
