My annual mileage is not high enough to worry about fuel costs, but I do enjoy competing with myself on the odd "economy" run. Last Friday I managed to get 26mpg during a fifty mile spirited drive along minor Sussex roads in medium traffic, which was pleasing considering the official combined consumption is 26.7mpg.

A metric such as £ per 100 miles would be useful for comparison purposes.
