I’ve just treated mself to a set of these for my A/S tyres so I won’t have to use just one set of wheels and swop tyres over for winter/smmer. They were reasonably priced after a discount, just need to add tpms senders, not so expensive through my tyre fitter, then all ready for whatever weather gets thrown at us. Centre caps a bit of a mismatch but when filthy won’t be obvious.

Would you mind sharing where you got these from? I need a set for my GTS with winter tyres for my annual alpine trip. I didn't really let on about this to the wife when persuading her GTS was a good idea and so any saving I can find over the OPC list could help.

They're the best. I have them on my Cayman S.

Steve, I ordered through Colchester OPC (my nearest) they took a week to come from Germany. £1400 the set. Add in tpms at £240 (I already had the A/S tyrs) and its a saving over a the full winters set already built up through Tequipment from your OPC, listed at about £2800, although expect at least 10% discount, standard if you're a Porsche Club GB member. There is a set on ebay, £1500, but can't recall what tyres are fitted. Personally I would fit any corrct spec good winter tyre, the lack of an N rating for a short period of time wouldn't bother me.

Thank you for the info. I will also speak to my OPC, as I only recently picked up the car they may be in the mood for a discount. Then I need to decide full winter or all season, given this country's very random winters, and my ski trip is Easter next year. No easy answer I think.

I really like the 19" classics but don't think I will be going the winters route with the Macan. Have had them on last two BMWs at great expense and little perceived benefit given the mild winters we've had recently. Shall probably live to regret it.

At the risk of opening yet another winter / AS / normal tyre debate (!) we happily went skiing to Alpe d’Huez two Marches ago...Bristol to Dover (M4,) Calais to Dijon, Lyon, Grenoble (A26 / A6 etc) gives around 750 motorway miles. Then, the last little bit up the switchback, behind all the coaches....all on “ normal tyres” with 2 pairs of snowsox and a set of Thule chains for the rears just in case.
Maybe we were lucky, or just planned the journey to arrive in the snowy bit (which wasn’t) on the Saturday chageover day.

Main reason I need 19 winter wheels is that you can't fit chains on the 20s as the clearance is just not enough. Chains are strictly speaking still mandatory in the Alps if it snows. So then if needing the extra set of wheels I could go full winter. Given next year I'm skiing at Easter I can probably get away with it but there is always a chance of a big dump of snow and being turned away by the French police.
Back on topic though, so I don't hijack the thread too much if I go with the winter wheels they will be 19 inch classics, great looks with the ease of cleaning in winter as an added bonus. Especially after a summer cleaning the spyders!
