When looking for insurance for my new Macan (which should be here in a couple of weeks now :D :D :D    ) I have been asked if
the car has a tracker? Does it?

It does as an option - I've never used it. You will get some key fobs that you must have with you at all times when driving, I believe. Don't think too many members on here have had a very positive experience with the system that Vodafone operate.

More details here: https://connect-store.porsche.com/gb/en ... kage/p/vts

(EDIT: For some reason that was a Cayenne link!)

I got 6 months free when I purchased mine - the Tracker is Thatcham Cat 5 if that's what you need to know. Mine has worked well with only one false alarm in two years of ownership.

I never bothered activating mine. I'm insured with Admiral and they only insist on one if the value of the car is over 75k.

I spent the money I saved on GAP instead. If it gets stolen I don't want it back anyway, I'll have a new one instead.

As above; tracker is fitted as standard but you need to activate it and subscribe from day one (as Guy says, it used to be foc for 6 months but that changed in 2016 from memory)
Get an insurance quite for with and without and see if it’s worth paying your annual subsription....and carrying an extra key fob in your pocket all the time😊

Aviva wanted a tracker but NFU did not, however NFU offer cover in limited postcodes. Worth a phone call.

I've insured with NFU and no tracker required, but there is a £1600 theft excess and my car is kept in an alarmed garage in a gated driveway in a low risk area

We have a tracker on ours and as I predicted, its a royal PITA. Its mainly my wifes car so she keeps these disc things in her handbag/purse whatever. So whenever I jump in it to nip to town or whatever, her phone is ringing off the hook from tracker central!
The insurance co wanted my 911 trackered up but I refused. As stated, if it gets nicked I'd prefer it stays nicked.
