Land Rover Discovery - the most ugly looking SUV
Peugeots - you'd have to have some strong faith in this brand's reliability, build quality and depreciation by rating it above a Porsche.
Macan GTS Mark 1 - bought new 2017 and sold 2024
Macan GTS Mark 3 - bought new 2024

It's intriguing that Land Rover's website gallery doesn't include a rear view of the Discovery! What an amazingly fugly car!

As for Peugeots, you know what Mr Clarkson said about people who drive them....

But the quote at the top of the post, viz:

"....In such a crowded area of the market, value for money, practicality and running costs are equally important; SUVs need to tick a whole host of boxes to be worthy of consideration today."

goes a long way towards explaining the ranking. I would guess that none of those three was a priority for anyone here?

I suppose practicality is important for a lot of Macan owners (5 seats etc.) otherwise we would have bought a 911.

Well yes, but in the context of an SUV, for practicality don't they tend to mean things like boot size, rear leg room, whether it seats 5 comfortably, or even seats 7 in some cases, ground clearance etc for off-road use and so on, none of which the Macan would score very highly on.

For my family it’s very practical, but my kids are young and don’t need much leg room. Value for money, well, you get what you pay for... the car is a delight to drive and when you consider that value also includes depreciation, it’s reasonable value for money. Running costs... agree wholeheartedly that it’s not the best in that department, and that you don’t buy a Macan for that reason. The lists out there don’t really matter. The smile on your face when you pull out of the driveway is what matters.

True! And a Discovery with a 2.0 engine?! Seems a big old car for a 2.0 to drag around? :?
