You may want to think about the new Cayenne - first deliveries April 18. That is if you don't mind the extra size.

Be happy. On the facelift model you'll have to struggle with the dreaded touchscreens!

Facelift anxiety is the scourge of all new car buyers - better buy used then the anxiety goes away.

Saw a new Cayenne yesterday in the metal and wasn't impressed at all, it's very bling looking at the back and I expect the Macan will go the same way.

Agree with most that has been said above. It is doubtful that the current Macan interior will be radically changed for the mid-life upgrade, not impossible but doubtful. Similar with the exterior, I think. Some changes but not radically different.

Now the new model (Macan 2, 2022-ish?), let's hope for lots of updates as the current Macan will be pretty outdated by then.

New Cayenne appears to be under-whelming. Might be packed full of good tech and an excellent driving experience, for a full-size SUV, but IMHO Porsche have fallen into the trap of producing a shape that is little different to most others on the market. Typical jelly mould, doesn't standout at all. Just my thoughts, no offence intended to anyone who has one :| .

I thought the “facelift concensus” for late 2018 was a full width light bar at the rear, big touchscreen inside and slightly lower capacity, marginally more efficient engines with not much else changing...?

Sounds like a good reason to get the order in now to me.

Unless there's also the option of a larger capacity V8!

You could be right. I'm just not sure of the cost benefit for Porsche of radically changing the interior for the remaining life of the model (3 or 4 years). Only time will tell, or leaked info :)

Spare a thought for an ex colleague.

He ordered a Ford Escort and when he picked it up the showroom was full of the new model which was not a facelift but a full body change.

As has been said before the rationale is whether Macan’s oft criticised tech and switch-based system will credibly last another 5 years.
