The budget imposes a one off tax on diesel cars that don't meet "Real Driving Emissions Step 2".

Does anyone know if the Macan meets this standard?

I doubt that the Macan has been tested to RDE2 level, and also doubt that it would pass.

AFAIK the Macan meets Euro 6 emissions, and I'd hoped that would be the diesel standard that would be used to determine tax, congestion charging, access to city centres, parking restrictions, etc. It's concerning that RDE2 (which to be honest I'd never heard of before) is being used as an actionable standard, and it will be even more concerning if the Macan doesn't meet it!

I don’t know if any cars have been tested yet? Does the test actually exist?

I believe any new tax (whatever it is) is just on a new car.

Current diesel owners will not pay any more.

No incentive to buy a new car.

The road tax increase only applies to new cars, and only for the first year.

However, the existing BIK diesel supplement for company car users does increase from 3% to 4% for all vehicles (new and old).

My glass is half full🍷 in my tiny mind I think, well some people will always want quality diesel cars, so the “lower tax” diesels (pre tax increase) should be more desirable 💰😉
