Apparently, as the video is no longer available . So in short: he confirmed, the S will have the 3.0l cayenne/panamera engine with 340hp. In upcoming drive review of 3.0l and 2.0l he will compare one with pasm and one with pasm+air. Apparently suspension arms are now in alu in stead of cast iron. I’ll post the link once its out there.
So is that an 'all Porsche' developed engine then, rather than the Audi/Porsche developed unit originally expected!? And would he even know for sure??Orangebulldog wrote: ↑Mon Dec 10, 2018 7:29 amApparently, as the video is no longer available . Everything I've read so far says new S will have 350hp!!

This week's Autocar, out Wednesday, has a new Macan driven article. I assume they went to the same press event in Spain as "Motorman" and may have driven S as well. All looking towards Porsche public announcement very soon; hopefully today.
Read somewhere on here new 2.0 as better low down torque than the old but extra refinement of S attracts as much as extra go with UK limits and traffic.

The initial rumours from months ago were the “current” Porsche 3.0 V6 in the S and forthcoming GTS but the Audi / Porsche 2.9 V6 in the Turbo (as in the Panamera)
They won’t be inventing new engines for a facelift; just tweaking BHP and torques.

I agree you'd think that yes... I can't remember where I read it some months ago, but more than one source suggested all but the very top end V6's were changing to Audi sourced units!
I agree that obviously Porsche wouldn't develop an all new engine, but if Audi have developed a new one they could use maybe they'd switch... maybe that was the original intention but they decided it would be too costly to re-work a new engine and are sticking with their own which won't be a bad thing!
I thought I'd heard that too, but according to Wikipedia the new unit produces 370 NM @ 1600-4500rpm, where the old produced 370 NM @ 1500-4500!!!pmg wrote: ↑Mon Dec 10, 2018 10:24 am This week's Autocar, out Wednesday, has a new Macan driven article. Got to say tho that for anyone on a tight budget, surely it's better to forego a few options and use that money to upgrade to an S.
I think it is WLTP that triggers changes in the engines. I am expecting the Macan to move to the base Panamera 3.0 single turbo engine for the Macan S (current S engine twin turbo) and the 2.9 V6 Twin Turbo for the Macan Turbo. what remains to be seen is whether there will be output and mpg differences say between USA and UK for emission regs reasons.
