........ but you would know
Macan 2.0 T vs Macan S
Buying a 2l and putting any options on it makes little sense, but as a base package, it makes a lot of sense. You get 90% of the ability, looks, interior quality of a top spec turbo, and to be honest, if you're on a budget, it isn't that hard to live without big wheels, Bose, memory seats, sunroof etc, and at 46K its a lot of car for the money.
Thats 30K less than an optioned up turbo, which would buy you a fairly new boxster to run along side it.

Appreciate all the opinions guys... really useful. Just back from Porsche Chiswick and I reckon it's def going to be the S. Mainly because the difference in price is small, MPG nearly the same and the residuals on the S vs 2.0L. I'm very sure we'd be very very happy with the 2.0L though. Need to sort a test drive - someone had dinged the demo car so not available today...
They reckoned 4 to 6 months wait, so going to sort this soon so it's just after the new plate next year. Will post my code for peoples thoughts when I've got a mo. They talked me out of the alcantara steering wheel which I actually quite liked the thought of!
cheers all

Anyone on a budget should really have some consideration for likely retained value. A base 2.0 won't have a great residual.

After having quickly browsed through all the negativism here towards the 2.0l Turbo TSFI. I felt hesitant towards writing anything. But for all of You girls and boys who has opted tor the best choice. You can with just few hundred bucks get a tuning kit that turns out close to the power as the 3.0 liter S model. What You get is a more agile and steering friendly car with a great punch. Fast enough for most people here. The PDK box and driveshafts et can easily take the extra 70 BHP. That is just about what the VW plant does with the Golf R models. I highly recommend the Burger Tuning kit a decent aftermarket stainless steel exhaust system for the extra sensory feeling. Smaller and mor efficient rightsizing is happening with Porsche as well as for the rest of the manufacturers.

Trouble is adding a tuning kit will invalidate the warranty, at least in the UK, may cause insurance issues and may well put off subsequent buyers. Far better IMO to get the S in the first place given the difference in price - a fraction over 5% - is not huge by Porsche standards. I don't think there is anything wrong with the 2.0, but don't really see why anyone would choose one if they could afford an S.

Thing is a 47k 2l has a lot less to loose than a 75k turbo.
I expect to loose 10k a year on my 75k turbo, so 45k trade in after 3years. No way a 3year old 2l will only get only 17k trade at 3years 30k miles.
Just look at lease costs. Base 2l or diesel are <£600 a month vs >£1000 for a turbo.
Any spec you add gets written off over the lease period. Lease companies know exactly what they’re doing.

Yes, but this thread has mainly been looking at the base Macan versus the Macan S, which is only a couple of thousand more. I don't think any base Macan prospect would seriously consider a Macan Turbo instead.wilko wrote: ↑Mon Dec 11, 2017 6:49 pm
