Dear all,
I was wondering if anyone know what type of trackers are installed in Macan GTS manufactured this year?
My insurance company is insisting to know the brand and technical details before they can add the car to my policy.
I have called Porsche centres in Chiswick and Bournemouth without much success.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you all,
Farr

If you’re brave and have a few hours to kill, you might get an answer from vodaphone...
...it also sounds like a change of insurer might be required....?

Welcome.

From previous threads many insurers do not require trakers if the value on the road is below £75k. My own Turbo at just below £75k did not require an active tracker by NFU.

I suggest that you tell your insurers it is a standard manufacturers installed device which is administered by Vodafone Telematics who bought Cobra where their Cobra Trak or Nav Trak were the units installed to many quality manufacturers.

If the insurers baulk at the information tell them not to bother as you will find a new insurer, I bet that will miraculously enable them to find the info they want on their system.

I suggest you search out Bazza’s post on vehicle security and look at his recommened tracker which seems to be far better than VTs installed unit.

+1. LV do not require a tracker either.
You could try ringing Porsche UK HQ or OPC Reading for the info that you require.

Say you could tell them but then you would have to kill them.

The information should be on the installation certificate that the OEM provided on hand over. Mine is a Cobra unit and the information I provided satisfied the NFU, who promptly gave me a discount on my Macan insurance.

Paul, Wing Co, thank you for your good wishes on my first century of posts in this forum.

I have calculated that at my present rate of posting, by the time I have reached 10,000 posts, I shall be 175. I may not be in terribly good shape by then but there is at least some chance that my Macan will still be going strong

Time for my cocoa, I think ...
