First time I've had the opportunity to try the GTS out in snow and see what the AS tyres are like.

The snow where we are is only about 10cms deep but I have to say I'm very impressed. We live off a main road at the top of a moderate hill with a shorter steeper hill at the the end of the close we're in. The GTS handled both with out any drama passing a bus on the main road which had got stuck and several neighbours cars that they'd had to abandon at the bottom of the shorter hill including a Honda CRV on summers.

I never felt the GTS was compromised by AS tyres in the summer driving through Italy and now I'm equally impressed with the first taste of proper winter driving. They may not be the best at either extremes but so far they do feel like a perfectly acceptable compromise.

Good to hear, Miopyk!

Any seasonal photos of your red Macan enjoying itself in this wintry landscape? :)

I am on all season tyres too in my GTS and no problems at all in the snow today. We had around 4 inches of snow. Very easy driving and no drama at all.

We have today swapped to the 18" winter wheels & tyres (Continental Winter Contacts TS830P), that the Turbo inherited from it's SD predecesor. Luckily the wheels clear the Turbos' callipers, which is a relief as we would have to buy a new set of 19's otherwise. :)

There's a talk of snow here tomorrow, so we're ready, though not so sure if other road users will be.
Our stable:
- 992 Carrera T - manual - Ruby Star Neo - Carrera Excl. wheels (2023)
- BMW 240i xDrive (G42) - Portimao Blue - AC Schnitzer tune
ex: 981 Cayman GTS, Macan S Diesl, Macan Turbo, 991.2 Carrera S, 718 Cayman GTS, i30 N, 718 Cayman GTS 4.0

I'm very surprised to hear this because everything you read suggests that the turbo requires 19" wheels. Which is one of the reason I haven't gone for winters this time (there were plenty of used 18" sets for sale until, er, yesterday)/

Exactly - I had to fork out for a new set of 19" for the GTS having had 18" winter rims on the SD. Great to hear that it works though. Saves over 2k.

I know, we were surprised too when we tested the wheels back in August. I will report back if we encounter any problems with the 18" wheels.

In the Turbo's Multi-function Display, in the tyre pressure monitor setting, it does not even give you the option to select 18" winter tyres, only 19" and 20". But the label on the door pillar does list all the tyre sizes (pressures are the same for all of them).

I hope that we will not find out the expensive way the reason for minimum 19". :?

It could possibly depend on the design of the wheels? Our 18" are the Porsche Macan winter wheels (part no. 95B 044 600 21) and they are a fairly open design.
