Hi all,
Sorry to post something that has been discussed before but I can't find a thread on it.
Anyway after carefully avoiding any kerbing for 9 months of GTS ownership, I fell victim to London's uneven kerbs today and scratched my 20inch black spider alloys. The wife would probably say no big deal but I am guessing that all on this forum will sympathise as to why I have been in a bad mood about it all day.
Anyway I popped into my local OPC and their advice was to wait until I sell the car before refurb @ £180 per wheel. Alternatively use a black marker pen to colour over for now - quite impressed with that solution if it works. They also mentioned a couple of refurb firms but I don't want to risk my beloved, pristine Macan with any cowboys.
Any advice or views helpful.
Cheers.
Kerbed alloy GTS
Not really a big deal if you can live with it and get it refurbed before selling. A refurb from a reputable company should cost in the region of £120 and all Porsche do is send them out to a reputable company and add 50% for their trouble.

Ouch!! Sorry to hear/see this.
Maybe try the black marker pen first? See if it hides it and if you could live with it like that.
If it's a keeper, I'd get the wheel re-furbed for £100 to £180.

Sharp intake of breath when I saw your heading I felt your pain. A black touch up pot from your local motor factor, It might even be possible to get a matte one, is what you need. It will stop the bare alloy from corroding where a black marker would stay black for a week.

Thank you all. Makes me feel better about it. Car is a keeper so my Xmas present to myself might be a refurbed wheel. Ah well...money better spent on this rather than a bottle of aftershave and soap on a rope I suppose

You might need to budget to do both the wheels on that side as refurbishing just one stands a very high risk of it looking subtly different to the other On the plus side if you use a decent firm the finish and durability will be much better than the factory original.
If refurbishing I'd go to Lepsons, either directly or via Chris at Excel Wheels for a hassle free service.
But for that damage I'd probably touch it in with matt black.

As above - if you have the time and inclination, a matt black touch in stick (having sanded down the rough edges) will cost a few pounds.
If you’re not happy with that finish then a refurb by a local reputable “ dings and dents” type operation will give an acceptable result and shouldn’t cost more than £100 max.

24 hours later, and with the advice from you and other kind forum members who've chipped in (pardon the pun), I feel calmer about my alloys. Right, time to action everyone's advice. Thanks again all.
