Hi all, my GTS is coming up for a year old and Porsche have sent me an email to remind me how my Connect service is expiring.
I opted for the standard free service that tells you if you're car is locked, trip computer etc (rather than upgrading to the full connect and security connect services).
IMO, the standard connect service is hardly the most sophisticated and feature rich service. Other manufacturers such as BMW offer similar as standard for the first 3 years of ownership so it's really not that pioneering or exciting.
However Porsche in all their wisdom seem to think that after 12 months, this should be a chargeable service on a £50/70k car.
Am I the only one who thinks this seems ridiculous and a bit of a cheek for something that is probably not worth paying extra for, but should be standard as lights or tyres are on a car of this level?
Porsche Car Connect - what a joke!
I'm in total agreement JBA - the service is pretty crap and you only get it gratis for a year. Not sure what they charge to renew it as I didn't renew mine but then again I knew my car was going

Never renewed the contract with Vodafone Automotive for Car Connect. It was a nice gadget for a year, but easily can live without.

I thought my car connect bit was only valid for 6 months....? ...but I never used it (other than showing off in the pub, folding mirrors and suchlike)
Unless of course you mean the connect bit of the PCM (which I didn’t opt for....and then it became standard.....)
Regardless, I agree it’s a bit stingy; Mrs P’s 428 has full FOC internet connection with the pro-nav system with an embedded SIM which is very clever.....

I certainly wouldn’t pay extra for it. Such a limited bit of kit and typical of Porsche who lag so far behind other manufacturers in so many ways when it comes to technology.

Didn’t renew mine either and I love a good gadget. From memory it was about £100 which didn’t seem good value for limited functionality.
