Thought some may be interested to get a feel for real world depreciation on a Macan SD given all the diesel speculation.

I bought my car in Oct ‘16, quite heavily specced with a OTR price just over £60,000. I also a couple of months later added a sports exhaust at a hefty £2,500 additional cost.

The car is in as new condition with 7,200 miles on the clock.

I have just got 4 different quotes to trade my car in, 2 from OPCs and 2 from independents. The values range from £42,000 to £46,000.

Thought it might be helpful for anyone curious about residuals. Interestingly, the desire to take the car has been high from both OPCs and independents with the increased spec being very appealing to purchasers.

Interesting and just as 'painful' as I would expect, given the current hysteria?

Ouch! Were the OPCs nearer the £42k or the £46k? Plus, I suppose it depends on what you were trading yours in for?

Am not surprised they were keen to take your car, and probably stick a good £7k on top before sticking it on their forecourt! ;)

Absolutely. I wasn’t surprised. Working on the assumption that a car like mine might retail for £52-£54k, £44k-£46k was about in the ballpark in my mind allowing for the margin.

Still tempted to trade in for a Porsche sports car, or has the size of the depreciation hit put you off...? :|

Still tempted Wingco, but approaching it sensibly and in no rush. OPC recommending a Carrera T actually. Still tempted though with a sensibly priced used car to mitigate future depreciation. May end up just sticking with the Macan. Currently distracted by my custom build motorbike that is in full swing. Takes agreeing spec to a whole new level!

Those p/x prices are reassuringly high in my eyes (75% residual ignoring the exhaust..)

They suggest that the car will be advertised between £49995 and £54995 which for an 18 month old car (come March) albeit high spec and low miles is fairly strong - especially given the diesel hysteria currently peddled by the media.

I agree with you Paul. I didn’t particularly think that the offers were unreasonable. Any hesitation I have about buying a 911 is more about whether it would be suitable given our family situation than the economics of it.

OPCs at the bottom end and independents at the top. The indies were happy just to buy the car outright.

Was thinking of selling my fully loaded Macan Turbo and buying a 911 C4 instead. It has 15.000 km and from May 2017, so 9 months old... Best offer from three OPC's was 75% residual...
