My 6 week old GTS already has a motorway scar and only has 2000 on the clock. 1mm x 6mm through to the aluminium on the bonnet. Really annoying as it glints out on the sapphire blue. Porsche have quoted £1800 odd for full frontal and I am sorely tempted.... (not interested in £4000 for total body wrap).

I am still in 'baby love' new car mode so I can't be sure if I am being bonkers or not.... '

Not sure I’d be spending £1,800 for a full frontal respray, unless I was then going to PPF the front. Possibility is you will get another chip at some point. Is there not a way to find a more cost effective fix and only consider a full respray at some point in the future (if at all) to hide more than one small blemish?

Is one or two chips going to make you go nuts? If so, get the film. I got the front bumper with half hood and behind each wheel and will get it again. Of course, the only chips on the car (after 3 years and 34,000 miles) are up at the top of the hood near the windshield where there's no PPF :-(

Buy the touch up paint from the OPC, less than £20 from memory?

Apply with a cocktail stick.

Apply and move on, sorted.

Same here. Not very impressed with the porsche paint. Honestly its the weakest of any car I ever had. Next Porsche will be protected.

You should experience VW paint.

I find VW/Audi paint fairly hard...Difficult to recover when someone messes it up, but more difficult to actually mess up...Renault is the softest paint I've ever dealt with - you could pretty much polish it by hand...

I think all modern paint finishes are very soft and easily chipped, especially for the first year until they full cure. It seems to be a feature of the latest water based paint as opposed to the previous cellulous types. The guy who did my PPF, whole hood by the way, does a lot of high end stuff and feels the softest paint is on Ferraris
