Hi All

I'm debating whether to put some PPF on to my GTS when it arrives. I'm ceramic coating the car but then was thinking that there might be some vulnerable areas that would benefit from the additional protection that PPF offers. I feel a bit cheery about spending £10k on PPF for two cars and given the Macan is much higher than the 911, hoped I'd have less need for it. I just don't want to kick myself later after it has been coated. :?

My question is to those who don't have it - have you noticed damage to the paint in specific areas over the course of ownership?

Thanks

Alex

I had a couple of small chips on the bonnet in 6000 miles. There is a lot of front on a Macan to collect anything flying around

The most vulnerable areas on a Macan are down the sides. Have seen a few badly chipped along the sills and bottom of doors. I did mi e down the sides, front bumper, part bonnet and mirrors as well as a few bits behind the rear wheels. Currently immaculate at nearly 5k miles. Didn't cost anything like the figures mentioned on here either.

From a purely economic point of view, how likely is it to enhance the residual value by the same amount?

15000 miles in 15 months in my GTS.
Plenty of high speed M-way including one weekend to Spa last May and the rest is on the pothole strewn tracks our local council like to pass off as roads around here.
Can’t see anything that I would consider needs attention bar one small chip in the lower plastic spoiler (so it won’t rust👍)
A few very minor imperfections on the bonnet nose but again, you need to look hard and be quite fussy.
The height of the car gives it sufficient protection in my view, and you’ve got factory fitted foils just in front of the rear arches anyway which is the only other vulnerable area.
My sideblades (black) are still unscathed.

Three chips on bonnet - 11k miles. Plenty of Tar too, but road contractor agreed detailers bill £525 to remove it and claybar bodyworl to return it to showroom finish or as near as! With hindsight, i should have protected the paint..

I had one small chip on the front edge of the bonnet on day one (road was being resurfaced) then nothing else ( 7200 miles), and as Rab has put there is a lot of front on the Macan.
I did buy a VG touch up stick just in case, never used it and sold it on here when i sold my Macan.
It had a full SD kit, colour coded side blades and ran 21"s and there were no chips anywhere else.

Ceramic coated and 13 months and 3k and spotless like new.
Also owned Audi Q5’s for a few years and again pretty much spotless in 30k driving.

Does depend on how and where you drive it and a bit of luck too I suppose.
GTS 😀
