Serious front end chip damage is usually a sign of driving too close to the vehicle in front.

...and/or a high proportion of driving is done on motorways and dual carriageways? :geek:

15000 miles in two years of mixed driving (and local roads are pretty naff) and a Euro trip and just one minuscule mark on the windscreen.

Partly, but the same rule still applies. And it could be said that motorways and major dual carriageways tend to be cleaner than A and B roads where resurfacing is often done by dumping tons of chippings onto a thin layer of bitumen. Having said that, salt and grit spreading on the M roads in this weather doesn't help!

I would do the front of the car and the door shuts. The high entrance means people scuff the door sill getting in and out. With PPF is just rubs off.

I went for front, half bonnet and wing mirrors PPF after picking up a couple of chips on bonnet leading edge. Since fitting a couple of small 'dings' in PPF but not gone through to paint. IMO well worth the investment to prevent road rash. Small chips in front windscreen which does tend to attract damage. Front mudflaps have saved side damage and non-sport design sills in black plastic saves paint damage issues.

I guess it's balancing the cost of having parts of the car covered in protective film, versus the cost, if any, of correcting any paint chips come resale time... :geek:

I had a few small chips in 20kmiles (15km on motorways) mainly front of bonnet, sides were not an issue, some bizzar chips on rear lower bumper.
I like to think I leave good space to the car in front but the times I was hit were when someone overtook me or i overtook them. Some ChipEx or similar seems cheaper approach. I hated every chip I found so some PPF would have saved that grief

I have 20K on my SD of mostly motorway driving and I have a few chips.

If I get another Macan I will probably have it wrapped to protect the paintwork and get a colour not available as standard.
