Couldn’t resist - Macan 3 ordered

The Cayenne has 21” wheels with Yokohama summer tyres , PASm and air suspension. The ride is ok but cannot say it is significantly better than my Macan on standard non pasm steel suspension. The Yokohama tyres transmit a fair bit of road noise and you can feel road surface imperfections through the steering wheel. Cabin noise even at 50 to 70 mph on the Mway is poor with both road noise and wind noise.

Are the Yokos NO rated?

Yes they have the NO marking on the sidewall.

Got my car back today. Pleased to report that Porsche Leeds have sorted the bonnet rattles. The technician explained that he made adjustments to the bonnet hinge mechanism and guides and also fitted some felt pads. Porsche GB would not authorise any work to pan roof as the dealer has to supply video evidence of the rattling and as it only rattles when it is sub zero this obviously is not going to rattle at the moment. Bit of a nuisance as it will probably reoccur next winter. When I drove back home I couldn’t believe how much nicer my Macan rode than the Cayenne courtesy car. My car has 21” sports classic alloys on Pirelli P Zeros with no PASM. The Cayenne had the same wheels but with Yokohama tyres , PASm and air suspension. Surprisingly my standard steel suspension felt much nicer on both the Motorway and on A and B roads. With the Cayenne the tyres were noisy and I could feel imperfections on the road surface. The air suspension just gave a rather unpleasant floaty feel but without any real benefit. I tried PASm on all 3 settings but it did not seem to make much if any difference. The Cayenne also rattled in quite a few areas. All in all I much prefer the Macan to the Cayenne.

To be honest I suspected that would be the situation with the pan roof. My last Macan did not have rattles from the pan roof below zero degrees. It was however so nice to get back into my Macan after the Cayenne and my car now feels really quiet and smooth after the Cayenne. I don’t think the Yokohama tyres did any favours to the Cayenne and I suspect they were 50% worn at only 8500 miles.

Good to hear it resolved. Iv been following this , as I pick mine up soon, and am looking for potential fixes that might need doing.

I had no bonnet rattles with my first two Macans and no rattles from the pan roof on my last Macan ( did not have Pan roof on first Macan).

Hi Mark. Glad you have your Macan back. And I guess the suspension etc on the Macan is a much newer/better design than the 'old shape' Cayenne? Happy Macaneering!

It was surprising how poorly sprung the old shape Cayenne was even with PASM and Air. I remember when the 987 changed to the 981 how owners were pleasantly surprised that the 981 did not need PASM for comfort. Previously owners of 987s picked PASm for comfort but when the 981 came out owners picked PASM for stiffer suspension. Either way I am now a happy bunny again although the car is safely locked up in my garage as I am in Guernsey for a long weekend and driving around in a Corsa rental car !
