MCDK is right I would put on at £2,700 and be prepared to take a respectable offer. Lot lower motoring cost than any Macan over its lifetime 😉

I've gently made that point but he hasn't got to his grand old age without being stubborn, and right.

Apparently, fhere's one on fleabay that's done twice as many miles and its £2k. And it's not as clean, apparently.

And people who say they'd happily settle for £2.5k don't know their arse from their elbow, apparently.

Stick it up at £2990 to keep him happy; then you can accept £2700!

Good plan, I'll plant that thought.

And apologies to the OP for the completely unwarranted Astra diversion.

When selling a car that is financed would it be normal practice to ask the buyer to send the money direct to the creditor?

This seems a safer option for the buyer and satisfy them that the car will be paid off.

Yes a buyer can send money direct to the lender but some people are a bit suspicious of that and prefer to just pay the person they are buying the car from. Best option all round is for the owner to somehow find funds to clear the finance before the sale goes through so the buyer can achieve a clear HPI report and then get the buyer to pay you directly.

I thought it would be the other way around. If you send the seller the money you're completely in their hands as to whether they use it to pay off the loan.

No but the buyer doesn't pay anything until they know the seller has paid off the finance and therefore has full title to sell the car. The other way the buyer could pay off the sellers finance and then the seller back out or disappear on them. That would be too risky for me to consider.
