Porsche has refused to replace the trims under warranty as they are classed as cosmetic. The UK customer service and the dealer have offered to pay £1200 towards £1571 replacements. Given I do not know how they have become tarnished I have decided not to replace them as the problem could happen again.
Does anyone know how to remove the tarnish. Conventional chrome cleaners do not work

Just get them wrapped. No more tarnishing.

I'm pleased Porsche were at least prepared to pay something 👍

I would take their money and at least start out with a fresh set ... at worst the problem may reoccur in time and you’ll have won yourself a few months.
Picture might be useful.....maybe others on here have had similar issues...... How old is the car?

As Paul says a picture or 2 would be helpful and then the combined knowledge on the forum can advise whether it is cosmetic or something that should be done under warranty. Also be interested to know if you've used anything specific to clean them historically?

I used to use this on a BMW 5-series to clean/protect the chrome window trims: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Motorex-Protec ... B00A9I0SFA

I have black trims on my Macan, but continue to use it on the tailpipes to good effect.

I also have 'dull spotting' tarnish on my trims and as yet have not found an effective cleaner to remove the dull tarnish. Even tried a mild cutting compound but no difference. Car parked outside so all manner of fallout could be causing it.

Can you please supply some pictures as I'm sure we all would like to see this tarnish and IMO it does not matter if it is "cosmetic" if it is in warranty
it needs correcting unless you have been cleaning them with wire will etc .
