Had my longest run in my Diesel S today. Drove from West Yorks to Crawley. 243 miles at 42.2 mpg and 52 mph average. Filled up before I left and only used 3 bars out of the 10 on the fuel gauge with 473 miles of range remaining. Felt fresh after the drive despite having been at work beforehand since 6 am. No back ache from standard seats but right calf did cramp up a couple of times which I blame on the poorly shaped LHD footwell. Passengers in back seats were fine with the standard aircon despite outside temperature of 28.5 c.

Nice update Mark, thanks! :-)
42.2mpg seems pretty good for a tight engine..I find most diesels improve until they get to 10-20K on the clock so this bodes well.

Yesterday, we drove from Shropshire to Patterdale in the lakes. With a one hour crawling jam at Preston, the Mecan averaged 39 mpg for the journey. Standard seats with leather option extremely comfortable. Car rides better than my Audi A7 s line, and is noticeable quieter for tyre noise. Adaptive cruise is amazing for traffic jams, all you have to do is tap the throttle when the car stops, really reducing the stress of the jam.

Today, drove the A66 plus some B roads. The engine feels like it is loosening after 500miles, with very strong torque below 3k revs( keeping below 3 k for now) sport mode making the throttle response and gear changing more aggressive.

Door panels not rubbing jet, but small discharge from rear screen wash. No false alarms.

I absolutely love this car!

Due to fly back to UK today and return journey from Gatwick to Yorkshire. I have never used cruise control in previous cars but thinking that due to odd positioning of footwell/pedals in right hand drive this would probably be a worthwhile option so as to alleviate cramping right calf when driving long distances. Hopefully cruise will be standard in 2015 models. On the drive down to Gatwick a week ago I got 4 calls from Cobra as a result of the tracker fob thingy not being recognised by the car at intermittent times whilst driving along. Eventually Cobra asked if it was ok for them to deactivate the tracker for the rest of the journey. Whilst away I saw my first Macans on the road - all 3 were in Monaco - 2 black and 1 agate -all with 21" wheels. Must say that the agate looked good with 21" wheels. I would have gone with agate instead of black had I not previously had a981 Boxster in agate.

When I pulled off my drive yesterday card wasn't recognised, I took it out my pocket and put in the cup holder and restarted the car, all good after that. I've noticed the tunnel intrusion, though for all the driving I've done and it's a lot this week I don't get cramp fortunately. I live on cruise though.

Have a good flight and drive back.

I like Agate and 21's

Spend a little more and get Adaptive - it is well worth it.

With adaptive, doesn't your speed increase and decrease with the varying concentration levels of the drivers in front? I find on normal cruise, it really highlights how inconstant some drivers' speed control is.

You are correct, and that is the frustration of regular cruise, continually cancelling and resuming in busy traffic. Adaptive takes that away. It also works in traffic jams. You can easily vary the distance also. It works much better than anticipated. Highly recommended.

Return journey from Gatwick today averaged 43.5 mpg and 53 mph over 231 miles. Still got 3 bars out of 10 left on fuel gauge after 474 miles. No back ache at all from standard seats and right calf did not cramp up today although did start to get close during long 50 mph average speed camera section on M1in South Yorkshire area. Not once all the way down to Gatwick and return on the M1and M25 did I see another Macan and so apart from the 3 I saw in Monaco ( Casino Square) on holiday I have still not seen another Macan on the road. mark-yorkshire2014-08-03 20:53:04
