BMW X3 M40i - replacement for Macan?
Sorry couldn’t let this one pass. We have a x3 courtesy car currently- it is quite possibly the worst car I have been in recently. Poor build quality, terrible engine and gearbox (auto) and a wollowy ride. The car is a 17plate with 4K on the clock. I just hope the m40 that you’re buying is better than this one. Think I’m spoiled with the macan although my daily drivers transit connect & Nissan nv400 seem better built. I also heard a local bmw dealer had to pre register 250+ cars to hit their target so perhaps that’s why the deals seem to good to be true.

Thanks, all. I appreciate the replies.
Very few people have driven the M40i in the UK - apart from the reviewers, who appear overwhelmingly positive.
Having asked the question on a Porsche Macan forum, I should not be surprised at the bias towards Porsche.
Do you think there would be any bias if I had asked about the Macan on a BMW forum?
Anyway, for your interest, on the configurators I specced up a Macan GTS versus a BMW M40i as closely as possible, and there was an approx. £10k difference in price - in favour of the BMW.

Saved £15k, but still seems a great deal.
A £47k BMW for £32k.
'Saved' £25k if comparing to a £57k Macan...?

£32k seems like a very good result to me.Arjan wrote: ↑Wed Mar 21, 2018 10:05 pmTurned out bmw Tunbridge did a typo on autotrader....was 47k spec car on sale for 32k....was meant to be 40k, but when I called them they honoured the deal job done. Only had 10 miles on it thought it be 100. Then signed up to a PCP with Lombard on zero deposit (work scheme). Deal was too good to refuse.Wing Commander wrote: ↑Wed Mar 21, 2018 9:42 pm 32% discount! Wow! And being a showroom car, with presumably negligible mileage?
I was looking for a macan, but will now hold off until the facelift arrives.
