My petrol Macan S is coming up to 3 years old, and I am looking at the options facing me.
One of which is to change brand. The reviews for the BMW M40i seem good, but there are currently very few examples in the country.

Any forum members had any experience of the M40i, either first-hand or second-hand?

Watched a few videos and they do sound great. However not a looker and the X3 will be a rather common sight on the road. Depreciation on BMWs is also pretty savage due to the huge discounts they have to offer to shift cars. The SUVs are quite as bad at loosing money as the regular models but they still do take quite a hit.

When I was considering a M3 or M4 recently, I was offered a 17% discount on carwow straight away. Worrying to think where you could get to with some actual negotiation!

The M3/M4 are end of life so have been offered at massive discounts, the X3 has just been refreshed so should be better.

I have an M2, and I must say the tech is a massive step forward over the Porsche PCM3. I am yet to experience the latest Porsche touch screen wonders but they are promoting things like the ability to send destinations to the car from your phone - something BMW has offered since 2014. BMW also has the 4G card built in for live traffic and map updates free of charge.

My wife is pushing hard for an X5 to replace the Macan but I am trying my best to push back but I am losing!

The new Cayenne isn't really a looker either and the Macan is just a bit short on rear leg room for us.

I can't compare M40i - but having come from a X3 (MkII) 3D to Macan SD - The X3 wasn't has good to drive, but probably the closer than most SUVs to a Macan, it wasn't a nice to look at inside but I think it was much better to operate control wise (though this may have changed as haven't looked at MKIII) and I wouldn't want run flat tyres, mine didn't have them but the winter tyres I had were.

I have the latest X3 (run about/family taxi), managed to get showroom car with 32% discount. It's a decent car much improved over past models. Has much better family space in the rear than the Macan. I have 21inch rim with adaptive dampers and the ride is very good. My brother owned Macan SD and GTS (21 with Air) so have driven those cars alot.....compared to the Macan the X3 is decent family car, but no Porsche. M40i and even the M version might be fun and much quicker, but for me once you have tasted Porsche nothing else quite hits the spot for a daily driver.

32% discount! Wow! And being a showroom car, with presumably negligible mileage?

Turned out bmw Tunbridge did a typo on autotrader....was 47k spec car on sale for 32k....was meant to be 40k, but when I called them they honoured the deal job done. Only had 10 miles on it thought it be 100. Then signed up to a PCP with Lombard on zero deposit (work scheme). Deal was too good to refuse.

I was looking for a macan, but will now hold off until the facelift arrives.

What a costly typo! But good for the dealer for honouring the price! :) Well done!
