New Car Storage...Dilemma

So it turns out there are no more build slots past April for Macan GTS and Porsche have now locked down all orders for Macan GTS due to the imminent factory shutdown.

For us this means that our GTS will be delivered around may time but we are currently not in a position to take delivery of the car.

We ideally need to take delivery in September. OPC Silverstone have kindly offered to store the car until then (keeping covers on, trickle charger, running it over now and again) but were still not entirely comfortable having a brand new car potentially exposed to the elements for 5 months (thinking rusty wheel hubs).

If we cancel the order chances of getting another Macan GTS until later 2019 are slim.

Suggestions?

Others on here do not recommend car covers, and I have to agree with them , personally on a car like that I would have it professionally stored, although Im sure you could do with out the expense, but it is a Porcshe ,and important to maintain the newness of the car, for as long as possible.

+1. I would look into the costs of having the car professionally stored (inside), although obviously there will be a cost, but then the GTS is ready when you want it, rather than having to go for months without your new Macan potentially...

I suppose if I look at having it professionally stored OPC will want me to take delivery of it and have the finance all set up?

Just to answer my own question, yes I will need to take delivery of the car. Spoke with OPC they are happy to facilitate the car being transported to a professional storage unit and transported back for colelction.

Hmmm some thinking to do on our side.

Oh yes! The OPC will want their money soon after the car arrives with them! ;)

They would not 'sit on it' for 4-5 months waiting to be paid.

Surely I will only pay them when it comes to me collecting the car, not it arriving at their site.

Thanks

Here’s one solution. But be careful with those tyre pressures.

Yes, but usually they will minimise the delay between the car arriving with them, and you collecting & paying for it.

It would do their cash flow no good at all to be invoiced by Porsche for the car (the OPC paying for it) and not getting prompt payment from you.

It would not be good business for them to be sitting on an asset that they've paid for, for 4-5 months, while they wait for their customer (you) to pay them. :)

Is there no mention in the sales contract of a maximum lead time from receipt by OPC to handover?
