Hope you're right Spud. The Macan manual says that the switch can be used for emergency braking, even by a passenger if necessary, but that certainly would not be possible in the 911.
Years ago when Volvo switched from handbrake lever to an electric version they tucked the switch away under the dashboard. Really surprised they did that given their reputation for excellent cabin ergonomics and safety. It was one of the reasons I didn't stay with the brand at that time.
Why have you sold your Macans ?

I would also prefer a central electronic brake control as seen in the Macan & Panamera, but I won't let it spoil my enjoyment of the 911 too much! And at least I've had some practice with the quirky positioning of the hand/parking brake in my 8 month spell in my 991.1 C2.

Funnily enough it seems more natural to me for it to be where it is having had the same positioning in the Cayman. Never got used to the central position in the Macan and constantly reached under the dash before realising it was in the middle so I’m happy with the quirky position.

Paul, how does that work? Maybe mine has the same function (it holds on hills for example), I just don't have a separate hold button associated with the handbrake?

No separate button but when you’re stationary and in D, if the auto hold doesn’t come on (because the car isn’t on an incline for example) you can activate the hold function by pressing a bit harder on the foot-brake.

Oh thanks, I didn't know that!
Have the same on my Ducati, you can activate by pressing either front or rear brake quite firmly - will give it a go (or maybe I should RTFM?)

From my manual, it's actually a 'brief push' rather than a 'hard push' that activates hold. I find a quick but short stab on the brake pedal works for me; there is no need to press hard or to the full extent of travel.
