Wait until the temperatures are 7C or lower consistently for the best benefit. Winter tyres are wonderful, but you do get tread block shuffle when temperatures are higher.
A 2 tonne car is going to make the tread blocks move - above and below 7C. Pushing it a little on winters will make you realise that very quickly. The difference is the stopping distance on typical UK greasy roads. The 100% rule applies to all tyres.
Faster wear on warm, dry roads +8C - the tread rubber of winter tyres is considerably more flexible than that of all season and summer tyres. That same pliable tread rubber that adds traction in winter will wear down quickly in warm temperatures.

Not exactly 'racing' at Spa, €20 for 3 or more laps that were very enjoyable, mostly 3 abreast! Event was the annual Porsche weekend in April this year, only 4 or 5 Macans though, and just 230 miles from Calais, give it a thought for a great weekend away. I have a short video of driving on the ciircuit up Eau Rouge but the forum will not accept Quicktime format.

Here's a quick cut of the first 30s of the first race. I'll post the links when I've done the full highlights.

We had 59 cars start and I started 18th overall. I finished 13th if I remember correctly, need to check the results!
