Just completed 3,000 miles in my Macan S and my longest trip - round trip from Hampshire to Borrowdale in the Lakes over the bank holiday weekend - thought I’d share my latest views on the car.

* The car really does gobble up the miles.
* Very quiet and very stable on the motorway.
* The brakes are quite superb, had to make a very quick stop on the motorway and my only concern was the guy behind - luckily he was paying attention and was far enough back.
* The 14 way seats are SO comfortable.
* I know we Porsche drivers shouldn’t concern ourselves with MPG but the economy is very poor - I don’t consider myself heavy footed but I struggle to break mid 20’s.
* I love the sat nav and DAB radio, Jukebox is great too.
* Boot was just big enough for the 2 of us for our trip - however I’m from the lakes originally so I did take a lot of stuff.
* Great ride on PASM and 19” wheels
* The car is wide, had me breathing in a few times driving on the narrow lakeside roads and looking for the “best” parking spaces.
* Volcano Grey looked great even in the gloomy light conditions.

All in all - I’m still delighted with the car.

To be fair, mid 20s for mpg is not bad for a big heavy SUV with a Porsche 3.0 V6 engine!

It's about what I get in my Panamera 4 with a similar engine, but my car is probably slightly more aerodynamic than a Macan...

By comparison I only averaged 20 mpg over 2 years in my 987.2 PDK Cayman and 21mpg over 2 years in my 981 Boxster. I tend to average mid 30s in my Macan SD.

I checked the MPG on my QF tonight. I filled up when I got back into London last week and since then have done 40 miles just around town .......... 13.1 MPG!

However, on run back from Hull, achieved 32 MPG which I thought was pretty good.

Back to topic ...... great to hear you’re enjoying the Macan so much. It’s a great car.

Last month I christened my SD with Hardknott, Wrynose, Kirkstone & Honister.

Very pleased you are a happy bunny, great review.

The Lakes over a Bank Holiday are a potentially massive gridlock, so weather dependent.

Hardknott and Wrynose in a Macan (or anything the same size or larger) calls for balls of steel, they are seriously narrow and steep.

Agree, Macan is quite wide for small roads and parking.

Ditto, I don't think I would now venture over Hardknott and Wrynose in a Macan.
Used to love visiting up / down those in all my previous small manual cars though, such beautiful and peaceful place, especially on long summer evenings (in a wind swept kind of way).

But that's where the PTV would come in handy.
