Can ACC be retrofitted?

My understanding is limited and based on a discussion I had with a Porsche engineer. But as I understood it something can only be retro fitted if the core ingredients are already on the car.

So, for example, ACC would presumably use the lane assist camera so if that isn’t on the car already then ACC couldn’t be added. The lane assist camera is apparently situated at the back of the rear view mirror and is not the same camera used for parking.

So lane assist couldn’t be retrofitted, but if you already had it then another option that requires that camera could potentially be retrofitted.

May be completely wrong, but that sounds logical.
