I’m a midges under 6’ and can JUST reach by swinging the mitt! (Sounds disgusting!)
Having said that I’m stood on the kerb whist tackling one side.
The car is coated so I never polish. 🙃

I have always stood on the rear tyre when washing any of the SUVs I've owned. Any bits missed at the front I find I can reach from the front door tread plate.

I am 5'5" (woman) and use a stepladder for the roof and the windscreen. Just have to be careful how and where I place it and make sure that I don't slip and knock my teeth out.

It is a pain and one of the reasons I prefer smaller cars.

...upturned bucket is my tool of choice.....washing is not an issue as I’m 6ft ish but drying / polishing means I’m brushing the side of the car with my tum / chest and could lead to scratching with zips / buttons etc.
(Much easier on Mrs P’s new TT!)

How is drying a problem, Paul. I simply rinse and then lightly drape an AutoFinesse drying towel across the surface and it mops up every drop.

And very noble cleaning the TT as well. But if you didn’t I guess you wouldn’t get to drive it.

Yes Mike...no clean = no drive!

(I use a drying towel too but can’t quite reach the middle of the roof properly without “leaning” on the side of the car)

Maybe standing on the kerb gives me that little bit extra. And I cast the cloth like a fishing net! It’s the closest I’ll ever get to fishing.

With the pano roof I'm not too bothered if I miss a bit - not very obvious :o :o :o

Occasionally I use a small set of steps.

I wash the car myself but then pop down the road to this guy who specialises in roof tops:
