Commuting to work happily a thing of the past - but although never done it, always had a hankering to drive through the Alps (with Matt Munro on the soundtrack) and without the ending on following video ! Would even happily do it in a Miura :)

There is commuting and there is commuting and then there is being out of the office on the road.

Spent the best part of 15 years travelling all over the north of England on business.

Going over Honister Pass in late Spring with nobody on the road, Tebay to Brough, Newcastle to Carlisle, Skipton to Harrogate, Snake Pass, Macclesfield to Buxton.

Visiting sites is the Lake Dristrict or in Yorkshire was mostly fun, not so much in Winter when the ice and snow was about.

Whatever the weather I somehow always went from A to B via the best driving route.

Sure beat being stuck behind a desk.

"-favourite stretch of road, ....?"
The M6 Rugby to Manchester when going through the interminable, narrow-laned, 50mph SPECS sections. driving along just inches from HGVs -
I am apparently getting 43 mpg.
S with an oil-burner engine and a few extras.
