Well that escalated quickly - from a 54K SD

So last Friday, I was in the OPC service department, and paid for the work done:
- MOT : my Sapphire SD is 3 years old on the 29th
- 112 point checkover, as requirement for purchasing a Porsche extended warranty ( I chose 12 month / £800.

USEFUL TIP. They suggested having the check carried out well inside the 3 year birthday, so that any faults found would be covered by the original 3 year warranty.

I want a new facelift GTS, & have been disconcerted by the potential long wait ( ?? Mid 2019), and what the impact would be on my residual value : 54,000 miles now, another 25+ by change time... and diesels may/will be even more demonised by then...

The SD breezed through the checks with no probs, and then I browsed the used car section....... big mistake !

Last time I spent weeks on the configurator, this forum ‘helped’ me spend more money ( excellent advice on options) & I had to wait months & months for delivery.

Macans were so rare in May 2015, I wouldn’t see another one in a month - now i see perhaps 2 or 3 a day!
Going to LeMans in 2015 was fun - owners of lovely supercars asked to have a good look around my Macan - they were ‘rare’ in the metal.

Buying used is a compromise - you don’t get your ideal spec, but buying a nicely optioned Turbo, that had covered 3.5k since Dec 2016, isn’t a terrible hardship.

Now my worry is that I won’t want to ‘downgrade’ to a GTS in 18 months.
(That should raise some hackles 😈😂😂)

For info, the interior is Saddle Brown leather with contrast stiching, leather dashboard, walnut inserts, contrast seatbelts, brown alacantra headlining.

It looks better in real life than it does in photos.

Very nice (and just shows the dangers of visiting the dealership too often! I trust you got a full refund on all the service work carried out....😂)

Exactly what happened to me on the last 2 cars. Paid for servicing, had 12 months extended warranty left and STILL chopped in for the new one! I am useless at it tbh.

Haha, well done Funrider!
I have done it a similar way, was browsing the used section online, just out of curiosity .... ;)
If one comes across a nicely specced and well kept example, then approved used makes a lot of sense.
Also, your experience with your SD must have helped as to which options you like / are not fussed about.

I do like the interior! 8-)

Welcome to the big boys.

And welcome to Team Black

Great choice.

As for downgrade, a GTS is different, yes it handles slightly better at the limit and the engine is more frantic but even so it is still a capable car.

My money would be on you trading to a facelifted Turbo, you will be smitten by the way it delivers the power, more like a GT car its totally effortless day in day out it is the cream.
