Fuel consumption
It's always difficult to second guess things like this and consumption varies dramatically between different drivers but I would be surprised if the efficiency improvement is anything less than 10% and could be more. I would guess there will be some weight saving too as all manufacturers are driven to improve fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions.

But will the improvement, 10% or whatever, be in real world usage, or in the 'official' figures?!VanB wrote: ↑Sat Jun 09, 2018 3:04 pm It's always difficult to second guess things like this and consumption varies dramatically between different drivers but I would be surprised if the efficiency improvement is anything less than 10% and could be more. Of the four Porsches that I've owned, the most thirsty was the 2.0 Macan...

I think there will be a real world improvement as engines become more efficient and, as I mentioned, possibly some weight saving too.
The most fuel efficient of the 3 Porsches I've owned is the 911 GTS which is also the fastest and most powerful and I think that speaks to engine efficiency development. Managed an indicated 34.6 mpg on a 40 mile motorway trip yesterday and averaging 27mpg over 3,500 miles according to Fuelly. The Macan averaged 21 ish mpg over 11k miles and the Cayman S (3.4 N/A) about 24 mpg over 30k miles

That is fabulous performance on a GTS just shows how the turbo has helped, not just torque, but consquentially economy.
My <3 year old 3.4 can just see that but with a trailing wind and 100BHP less. Just shows how how well Porsche have the fueling mapped to the load.

We managed over 27mpg at an average of about 110 kph on a 4-5 hour run mostly down the autostrada recently. Well pleased.

A mix of 75/25 motorway/regualr roads driving. I was being pretty gentle though as it is still being run in.Bogus wrote:Yes, in Kent.Mistertoad wrote:Were those figures that achieved in UK?

That is very impressive, I asked because the volume of traffic seems to have a big effect on MPG. Last month I achieved this on a run from Baden Baden to Ingolstadt with very few hold ups. Not bad for a 520 bhp V8.
