So should not need a phone holder anymore. ;)
Thanks Semerka, but I reckon a phone holder is cheaper than changing my (PCM3.1) Macan for a newer one with CarPlay

I have a Rennline holder for sale. If you buy it through their website they will ask you for £45 +vat plus £6.95 shipping (total of £62.34).

Mine is available for £47 including post and packing. It was installed in the car but then I decided that I preferred another mount that I already had so I took it out straightaway.

Best thing about the phone holder is that is links your aerial to the one in the car and improves reception, therefore battery life.

An air vent clip solution but works excellent for iPhone 8 (even when in a plastic shell)

£14.60 inc postage.

The base station version works as well for the bed side

Be careful when clipping it onto the vent, one of the children broke my vent with a similar holder.

Bought this from Amazon. The air vent clip doesn't seem to be strong enough to support the weight of the Samsung s8 and sticks out a bit and phone faces down.

I you mean the vent is no longer adjustable and tends to angle downwards, that is true and the grip needs to be tight on the ball joint to keep phone pointing in correct direction. For me it is on missus side and she turns the vents off so has not been issue so far :)

It is the angle down that's a problem to me. If the clip is fully pushed into the vent it feels fine. Bit the weight of phone will eventually pull that out and angle down. I can tighten the ball joint to make it face up, it just feels no secured. The other type of vent clip worked better for me.
