My SD, when I had it, didn't give any warning and gave the same Engine Management warning. There was a glow plug light illuminated as well. When the OPC ran diagnostics on why the DPF light didn't come on they were at a loss and basically did a hard reset of all the onboard management systems which, they said, fixed it. Nonetheless, I didn't keep it long enough to find out it if their reset fixed it!

There you go...that's a DPF management issue. Same thing happened to me. It will necessitate you keeping an eye on your shorter trips. These new breed of diesels utterly hate them. It really helps if you ask them to show you a split of your trips so you can see how it builds up. They really should develop an app to stick on their entertainment system which allows you to actively look into how full the DPF is getting so you can perform a regen if needed. Otherwise, it's a cliff edge situation! My OPC really liked that idea but engineering into all the sensors needed may be a bridge too far!

Tom 2000 _ did your OPC charge you for their work done to remedy or was it covered by the warranty?

I can’t see how they could charge. It’s under warranty and put up an orange warning. They did a regen, whatever that involves. I notice my unlock settings have changed and some display settings so perhaps some sort of software reset.

Do you do a lot of short trips Tom to cause the filter to clog so badly? We had a golf GTD that would have run the regen programmes itself quite often but never caused a problem.

Total annual mileage is 15000. I regularly drive to work, 7 miles, and cool down again before tripping for the day. Could that do it?

Apparently there is a Stage 1 Grey warning. I have never seen that. Is there any indication the car is performing a regen? I suspect not. I gather you can set up the conditions but it might not happen then either.

With the Golf it was very clear when it ran a regen as when you stopped the fans ran very loudly for a while cooling everything down.

Your 7 mile work trip won’t help as the car has to be at a certain temp before it will run a regen. However with 15k per year you must be doing some longer steady runs which should do the job
