My discs and pads have both worn at approximately the same rate so they are expected to need changing at the same time. Porsche say they allow 2mm of wear on the disc which starts life at 34mm thick on the SD. I'm at just over 28,000 miles at the moment and am told they will need doing soon.

Incodentally, I have PTV+ and my rears are slightly less worn than the fronts but not by much.

I had the front discs and pads done just before I sold the car as well as a service, so at 3 years and 32K. The rears were ok I was told.
As I opted to wait an extra day, I saved £100 on the cost as the parts diidnt come in next day. I had a Boxter to run around in and the cost was £620 for the discs, pads, sensors, consumables and labour.
Seems like a bargain compared to some dealers ! Oh I'm north of the border, so was very pleased at the cost

...I suspect that’s the other way round but is still a massive cost! (especially if both done together as much of the labor cost operation )is duplicated

I thought most Porsche disc min thickness were 28-30mm? Don’t have enough info, but ask what the original thickness was..(normally stamped on the disc and should be 34mm)

They are telling me min disc is 32mm and so 32.3 leaves no room. Will ask original thickness.

THe prices are definitely that way round, they have now come back doing it for £1,224 for the discs and pads including VAT

Ah, OK....I know it’s splitting hairs but you’re not yet at the minimum thickness....😉

I just thought I had better correct this previous post. I was told that my car would need brakes and discs all round soon back in May. Watching the dealer video back, the technician said that the front discs were 0.3mm above limit which works out as 85% worn.

However, I just had my winter wheels put on and a different technician checked the brakes. He measured the front discs at 1.3mm above limit (2mm wear allowed) and the rears at 1.2mm above limit. So 35% wear on the front and 40% wear on the rear. Most of the pads were at 6mm with a 2mm limit.

So the poistion has changed from needing to service all the brakes at 30,000 miles to probably not needing to do it until maybe 60,000 miles! Quite a difference. I may need pads before discs and rears before fronts (maybe due to PTV+).

I am just hoping the second technician has got it right. Next time I will ask to see them being measured myself!
