I think a replacement engine would affect resale. I know it would be under warranty but still a perspective buyer would always wonder what happened to the original engine. If Porsche replace the engine under warranty then they are rectifying the problem so I am not sure where you would stand in rejecting the car.

How would a prospective buyer know that the engine had been replaced?

I guess they wouldn't if it wasn't mentioned. They may wonder about why the mileage is so low. It will depend on whether it's a private sale or trade in. I think If it was me I would have to mention it to any perspective buyer.

As an aside - Hitman with your GTS, do you only get 17 mpg?

What do you mean about the mileage? Why would it be any different with a new engine?
And from a prospective buyers perspective, why should it make any difference if it's been installed properly? You're not obliged to say anything about it unless you're asked the direct question, and why would they?

Meeting arranged with dealer senior management so let’s see what they have to say!

Rejection would not be an option on a 2016 car - the time limit is 6 months from purchase and you’d struggle anyway as the dealership are actively proposing a perfectly acceptable solution (legally)

Why is a new engine such an emotive issue to some? Would you mention that you’d had new suspension components if they had failed, a new starter motor, a new air conditioning pump? (Not to mention other, more usual wear and tear items like discs / tyres / )

I’d be far less interested in a used car which had documented 3 full sets of tyres and two sets of discs and pads in 16000 miles, taking an extreme example😉

It’s only the single value of the item which makes it more difficult to accept.

Anyhow, good luck meeting the DP and let us know the outcome.

Hope it gets fixed to your satisfaction.

These things happen; it's rumoured that the last 928 engine to be installed had a minor problem.

One oil way hadn't been drilled so it seized almost instantly!
