Dandock wrote: Thu Aug 23, 2018 5:22 pm Just been told that the new model will see a price increase of just 2%.

This of course includes new standard elements eg LEDs, Connect, etc.

Also that dealers will be getting a clutch of 2ltr examples with the unit from the Golf GTI late October or November.

Will be interesting to see how that performs v the new 3ltr engine.

And confirmed that Spyders will now be 21s. Some new design/s to fill the 20” void.

Also cars will be slightly lighter.

All good news, Mike.

But isn't the GTI engine 220bhp or something like that, ie less than the current Macan 2l? The GTI seems to have been optimised for 2WD sporty handling rather than maximum power (and maybe 220 is as much as it's sensible to put through just the front wheels). It's the Golf R that has the 300bhp engine.

Edit: Actually I see that there is an optional PP (Performance Pack) for the GTI which takes it to around 242bhp, but even so the points above still apply.

And the moral of this story is to doubt every word of a SE! Presumably that’s what he meant.

Noooo

The moral is don’t buy a 2.0 litre.

Even if it were to have a 300bhp ouput it will still be way less than a 2.9 litre S

I very much doubt that the 2.0 Macan will get 300bhp. Too much danger of that stealing sales of Macan S and GTS.

My money’s on it going from 252bhp to maybe 265bhp tops.

Have to confess I’m in. Well only as far as paying the refundable deposit to join the queue for the new GTS in err maybe 2020/21

Unless I’ve misunderstood, I am sad to see the console CD player omitted.

Also, any thoughts on when / if a dashcam will become an option?

+1 re CD player although I admit to be old-school non techy. Having said that I’ve probably used it but a few times. Its clearly all about simplifying manufacturer and weight saving.

Didn’t see anything on dash cams but option details remain to be announced even to OPCs.

Dash cams, surround view, auto-park, auto brake, auto-lights, auto-steer … etc will be mandatory on all new cars before very long. Be careful what you wish for …. ;)
