Oh .... I have them on my GTS with leds... probably one less thing to get hit by a stone! Thanks learn something new each day
Macan GTS.Vol/ grey turbo 21s, Bose, Panroof, heated seats and steering wheel, 18 way , red belts, LEDs, light comf mem, privacy , compass, 18 spare wheel, aluminium inserts, auto dim mirrors, smoked,r/rails,p/assi. CAYMAN GTS now
I thought that fog lights had to be mounted low down in order to penetrate under the fog, and to avoid the light being reflected back into your face. It'll be interesting to see how the new lights cope, and whether the LEDs even have a 'fog-mode' operated by the headlight switch.
Did some googling and found some discussion here: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/06/29/auto ... ppear.html

Interesting article.. I agree with your thoughts of fog lights being low down, not fully convinced off the claims being made.

Can't' honestly say that I've found any added value whatsoever from having front fogs on top of Macan LEDs, even on very foggy days (which are relatively rare). So I for one won't miss them. And rear lights seem to be so much brighter than they used to be that I'd almost question the value of the rear fog too though (1) it obviously doesn't have anything like the styling impact of front fogs; but (2) omitting it on other cars would stop them dazzling me except on the foggiest of days.Mike and his Macan wrote: ↑Wed Aug 01, 2018 12:25 pm Interesting article.. Could it be that the launch pics are a ‘for China’ model and that Europe may differ in what is ‘standard’? There are slots but it’s difficult to see if they’re functional or not.
The NYT piece is interesting but what is the legislation for Europe?

I am trying to think of how many times I have found front fog lights useful - I don't I have in last decade, so tbh I doubt I would care if car had them or notjohnd wrote: ↑Wed Aug 01, 2018 12:41 pmCan't' honestly say that I've found any added value whatsoever from having front fogs on top of Macan LEDs, even on very foggy days (which are relatively rare).
